Malana's second birthday at Grandma Hull's

She got a shopping cart, play food, a cash register, and the dress-up necklaces that she is wearing in the pictures from us. From Grandma Hull she got a different Curious George movie, a sesame street movie, and a monkey towel.

Malana is absolutely in love with Curious George, so for her birthday I made her a Curious George cake. It was my first time trying fondant, it was pretty easy, but I stacked the cakes too early and they fell apart, so it was a little lumpy, overall I thought that it turned out pretty dang cute. I made George and the paint cans out of fondant too, so the whole things was edible(not that you would want to eat it, fondant is gross).

Apples, smut, and dirt

I went to my mom's house for a couple of days taking with me boxes and boxes of apples from our overbearing trees. We had a great time making applesauce, fruit leather, and apple juice. I felt like I had stepped back to the 50's, my mom had her music playing from that time era, we had on aprons and we were canning, oh I feel so domesticated.

My adorable little toddler. I went and bought Malana a bunch of new clothes for the fall and would hold them up and say "oh that is so cute!!" today when she woke up she looked at me and said "cute shirt mommy!!!!" hmmm.... monkey see monkey do. She is wearing one of the outfits I bought her in this picture, she is also wearing a necklace she found that I had made at girls camp years ago, she is very into girly things including jewelry.

Can anyone guess what this is? Travis was shucking some corn for dinner and he pulled the husks down on one and found this: GROSS!!!!

I looked it up on the Internet and found out it is called corn smut. It is considered to be a delicacy in Mexico. It is a fungus that takes over the corn and grows tumors where the kernels are supposed to be. I can't believe that somebody would eat it!

All in a hard day's work. Malana's clothes got REALLY dirty playing at Grandma Hull's house, so we took off her clothes and then awhile later we went looking for her and found her with Grandma's markers, "p'etty" she said. The next day when I undressed her to give her a bath she pointed to her naked thigh (that didn't already have marker on it) and said "I 'anna color". I said "you want to color on your leg?" and she said "n'kay". I think we have a future tattoo artist on our hands .
